Quietway 14 - Extension Tanner Street

The Quietway section between Blackfriars Road and Tower Bridge Road is practically completed and will be officially launched later this month following a walkthrough by TfL and Civic Hall representatives.

To avoid any delay, the extension stretching eastwards across Tower Bridge Road started on 3 September 2018 as part of the route that will eventually continue to Canada Water.

These works will require a closure of Tanner Street between Druid Street and Maltby Street with traffic being diverted via Druid Street and Tower Bridge Road. The works will last for approximately 8 weeks (due for completion before the end of October) provided that there are no unforeseen circumstances.

Works include:

  • carriageway resurfacing
  • footway and cycleway works
  • kerbing drainage
  • some street lighting works

Planning of works has required that we seek the kind co-operation and consent of Network Rail under a Basic Asset Protection Agreement as the works in construction will be entirely beneath their railway viaduct structure.

Once this section of the route is completed, work to develop the Quietway 14 route will continue eastwards from Jamaica Road to Canada Water.
