Southwark schools for the future
The Southwark Schools for the Future (SSF) programme includes:
From 2006 to 2014, Southwark Council will have overseen around £400m of capital expenditure on schools, nurseries and children's centres. By the time this programme ends, we'll have:
- developed 21 children's centres, including four new builds along with 14 major capital improvement projects in Southwark schools to improve community access
- provided four new primary schools, expanding popular and oversubscribed schools
- built two secondary foundation schools through BSF 'quick win' programmes
- built five new academies, including three within the SSF secondary programme
- built, rebuilt or refurbished 12 schools through our £200m secondary programme; this programme has been nationally recognised by central government as best practice
This is the largest school renewal programme in Southwark since Victorian times.
