St. George’s Circus
The St. George’s Circus Conservation Area is located in the north-west of the borough at the southern end of Blackfriars Road. The conservation area includes the Circus, the western end of Borough Road and the northern end of London Road. Although much of the early 19th century development around the Circus itself no longer survives, its planned, Georgian origins are still apparent in the terraces in London Road and the south side of Borough Road, in the layout of the roads around the obelisk, and in the curved façade of the former Duke of Clarence public house.
