Plans to build a new skate bowl with urban games area in Burgess Park

We're building a new exciting, flexible, urban games area with a skate bowl that will be free to use for everyone. It will be in Burgess Park, near Elephant and Castle in south London, next to BMX Track London. It will have spaces suitable for skateboarding, BMXing, WCMX, parkour, roller-skating, rollerblading, scootering, calisthenics, climbing and bouldering.

It will provide a large open access skate bowl, facilities for climbing and parkour and ecological improvements such as new trees, bat and bird boxes.

Phase 2 will add a large street-skate area, calisthenics area, and more elements for parkour, and climbing. This phase cannot start without additional funding, which we're currently seeking.

The facility is part of the long-term vision for the park set out in the Burgess Park Masterplans.

Getting involved

The project is currently on hold while we consider an enhanced provision at this site. There will be another chance to have your say during the second public consultation.

The first public consultation was held in September 2020, where these plans (PDF, 1.4mb) were shown. The results have been analysed and a report has been written. The plans have been updated, taking into account the feedback received. They will be published, along with the report, once the project is no longer on hold.
