Event overview
The GALA event is a sophisticated, independent music, culture and arts festival, which showcases a superb selection of food, drink and music sourced from South East London and the surrounding areas.
GALA launched in 2016 in Brockwell Park before moving to Peckham Rye Park in 2018. 2024 will mark the eighth edition of the event in total and the sixth edition of GALA in Peckham Rye Park (event did not take place in 2020).

**Please note that programming for the two additional arena shows is still being finalised and at this time, proposals for the family day are still being discussed with other promoters who are able to deliver this type of event. It is anticipated that arena show 2 will take place on Wednesday 22 May and it is hoped that the family day will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 27 May. Details will be emailed to stakeholders once confirmed and up-to-date information about the event can also be found on this web page throughout the consultation process.
Event description
Arena shows
The arena shows will only make use of the main stage and will take place between 5pm and 10:30pm. The shows will feature one particular genre of music with a headline artist and support acts.
GALA 24 to 26 May
The three days of ‘GALA’ will follow the same format as previous years. Festival style, utilising multiple stages across the whole site, featuring a mix of music genres and artists.
Family day
This show will be programmed for local people. Assembled Live Ltd are in ongoing discussions with other promoters to deliver this event
Key reasons given by the applicant in support of the application
- The GALA team wants to deliver a higher quality events programme and build on the success of what they’ve already achieved since 2018.
- The GALA promoters want to make optimal use of their high-specification event site.
- More event activity will mean more support and collaboration can be offered to local community groups and charity partners.
- More event activity will mean that more local residents can access a great event experience with an additional allocation of free and discounted tickets.
- A more extensive and varied event programme will create a more inclusive space and create long term social value.
