Walking to work
There’s no better way to increase your daily activity level than walking some or all of your way to work. If you need an easier start, then walking between meetings, walking with colleagues during your lunch break or even swapping lifts or escalators in favour of stairs are a positive step.
We can help your workplace promote and implement simple measures to encourage sustainable travel to and from site, such as walking, cycling, public transport use and car sharing.
Walk to work week
National walk to work week is a national challenge run by Living Streets, which encourages employees to walk more as part of their commute and working day and to help workplaces encourage and promote walking to their workforce. Walk to work week takes place as part of National walking month, which runs throughout May.
Get your workplace walking and reap the benefits:
- save your bus fare and walk instead
- burn calories and get fitter
- compete with your colleagues and walk together
- relieve stress
- make new discoveries in your area
TFL offer online resources to encourage walking as transport for your commute. They work with local Southwark businesses to create their own bespoke Legible London maps to highlight the ease with which local journeys can be made on foot.
