Project updates

Implementation of the proposals was approved by the Cabinet Member in January 2020.

Detailed design is now complete and works will be carried out according to the construction programme below.

Construction Programme

  • start date: 22 June 2020
  • duration: approximately 14 to 16 weeks over two phases

Phase 1 Works: June-August 2020

Footway works, widening of traffic island by Sunray Avenue, provision of informal pedestrian crossing by Deepdene Road, removal of informal crossing by Blanchedowne, removal of central median and construction of raised pedestrian crossing by Champion Hill

Phase 2 Works: September-October 2020

Carriageway resurfacing along Denmark Hill between its junction with Sunray Avenue and the hospital ambulance entrance  

Details of the scheme proposals

Residents within the immediate vicinity of the works have been notified of the commencement of construction works with details of any access restrictions or traffic diversions that will be in place during the works. Traffic management for the works will involve lane closures and suspension of the bus lane.
