Community schools
Primary
Southwark Council is the admission authority for all community primary schools in the borough. If a Southwark community primary school receives more applications than there are places available, places will be allocated strictly in accordance with Southwark Council's community school's admission arrangements.
Secondary
There are no community secondary schools in Southwark.
Non community primary and secondary schools (academies, foundation, voluntary aided and free schools)
The school or academy’s governing body/academy trust is the admission authority for non community schools. If a non community school receives more applications than there are places available, places will be allocated strictly in accordance with their individual published oversubscription criteria. You can view the oversubscription criteria for non community schools in Southwark in the starting primary school in Southwark 2024/25 (PDF, 7.4mb) and starting secondary school in Southwark 2024/25 (PDF, 4.7mb) brochures.
Parents applying for a non community school should contact the individual school to check if they are required to complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF). For example, voluntary aided schools with a faith based criteria may ask for evidence of the family’s commitment to the faith. Completed SIFs must be returned to the individual schools.
