Welcome to our spring term 2025 programme

Enrol on a course to improve your wellbeing, bring out your creative talents or enhance your personal and professional development. There are courses in English and maths available, and we offer a range of vocational courses and qualifications from Entry Level to Level 3.

Our courses are now mainly onsite at the Thomas Calton Centre, Alpha Street, SE15 4NX, with a small proportion of courses available online.

Limited places are available in our crèche for learners and working parents and carers! 15 hours per week free for eligible families with children aged 2 to 5 years!

Please enrol online by completing our enrolment form where possible. You can also visit the Thomas Calton Centre Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

About our services

Welcome to your Southwark Adult Learning Service.

Our adult, family learning and skills service works with Southwark people for a fairer future for all. We offer a variety of learning opportunities for exploration, achievement and progress.

This programme includes courses that:

  • lead to nationally recognised formal qualifications
  • help you gain or improve job readiness skills, including CV writing and interview skills
  • help you develop your job prospects
  • help you improve your English, maths and language skills
  • can lead to career enhancement or a change of direction
  • help you study for your own personal interest and development
  • develop skills in a range of areas, including digital skills, childcare, arts and crafts, health and fitness, fashion and textiles and creative writing

Our courses

Courses take place in well-equipped studios, workshops and classrooms, in a welcoming and friendly environment. Some courses are available for online and blended learning. 

Courses are offered at different times, providing opportunities to learn whether you're available in the day, evening, or prefer online. There's also the option to learn together as a family, with courses designed for you and your child(ren) or grandchild(ren). Family learning courses are run after school or during the school holidays from a variety of venues across the borough.
