Peckham Square

Peckham Square previous approved scheme

In 2016, Southwark Council and Carl Turner architects worked closely with the community to co-design the reconfiguration of the square in front of Peckham Library.

Two proposals were presented to the council, one retaining the Peckham arch and the other removing it. After much consideration, it was decided that removing the arch was the best option in the long term.

The approved scheme was made up of two new buildings facing Peckham High Street and a new shared and landscaped public space in between. The buildings were mixed use.

In 2021, Southwark Council appointed Spheron Architects to re-design the landscaped public realm.
