Canada Water Master Development Agreement

In May 2018, in order to deliver the Canada Water Masterplan, the council entered into a Master Development Agreement (MDA) with British Land.

The cabinet report that led to the council entering into the MDA has background information on the project and the agreement.

The MDA gives the council the ability to share in the financial benefit of the redevelopment of Canada Water by investing directly in the project.

The MDA commits British Land to deliver 35% affordable housing and a new council leisure centre in the first phase of development.

The council also has an option to buy all of the social rented units built in the development, which will then be made available to local people as council homes.

Due to the commercially sensitive nature of some of the content, parts of the MDA have had to be redacted.
