Queens Road parking zone consultation
Proposed Parking zone
In January 2017 we consulted a network of streets in the Queen’s Road area on the proposed introduction of a controlled parking zone. All properties within the study area received a consultation pack including the following:
- the consultation document (PDF, 738kb) (including frequently asked questions)
- a copy of the questionnaire (PDF, 436kb) (can be completed online or by post)
- a feasibility map drawing (PDF, 2.1mb) (showing the proposal street area)
Project process
The council has a thorough process to follow when deciding whether to implement a new parking zone. The key, past and future processes are summarised as follows:
- June 2016 - consultation methods discussed with Empowering Communities East Central
- January 2017 - informal consultation
- Autumn 2017 - decision making
- Summer 2018 - statutory consultation
- Winter 2018 - implementation of double yellow line at any time waiting restrictions subject to statutory consultation.
Consultation outcome
You can view a copy of the Queen’s Road parking study report (PDF, 576kb) containing a detailed breakdown of the consultation results.
Based on the results of the informal consultation, officers present the following options:
- to keep Clifton Crescent under review with an option to install a one road parking zone
- to not implement a parking zone in the remaining streets in the study area
- to introduce double yellow line waiting restrictions at locations where parking is deemed unsafe (eg at road junctions and across dropped kerbs)
