Dropped kerbs and driveways

Dropped kerbs with access to off-street areas

Dropped kerbs provide legal access from the street to off-street areas such as driveways.

We enforce against the obstruction of dropped kerbs by way of a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) or vehicle removal.

Vehicles parked adjacent to a dropped kerb may be ticketed and removed without notice. Only vehicles that are either straddling the dropped kerb or have a wheel adjacent to the dropped kerb can be enforced.

Off-street dropped kerbs serve either a single property or more than one.

Driveways that serve a single property

If there's no enforceable yellow line, you can park close to this type of driveway without penalty. We only enforce if the occupier of the property makes a specific request.

If you're having problems with vehicles obstructing your driveway, you can request free dropped kerb enforcement by contacting parking@southwark.gov.uk. You can also call 0207 708 8610 or 020 7708 8587.

Our hours of removal operations are 08.30 to 18.30 Monday to Saturday (subject to change). Outside these times, we may dispatch mobile patrol units to issue the PCN.

Driveways used by more than one property

These are driveways where multiple occupiers have access, such as a block of flats or a property converted into flats.

Residents cannot park their vehicle or give permission for others to park across these driveways. We actively enforce against such vehicles.
