Noise and nuisance
How to report a noise problem
Our service is available:
- 7am Friday continuously through to 2:30am Tuesday morning (24 hrs)
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7am to 2.30am the following morning
- the Noise & Nuisance Team will be closed from midnight Christmas eve (24 December) until 5pm Boxing Day (26 December)
What happens after we receive your call
- officers will call you back to check if the noise is still happening and to discuss a convenient time to visit; we endeavour to make a call to assess the noise within one hour if the noise is happening
- if the noise is still a problem, officers (carrying ID badges) will visit and assess the noise; if it's not convenient to visit your property, we'll attempt to visit the area and if we can establish the source of the noise, we'll ask those responsible to reduce the noise
- if the noise is a nuisance, we'll take action against the person causing the noise in order to stop the disturbance
- if the problems fall outside the legislation delegated to the Noise and Nuisance Team, we'll try to pass the information about your problems to an appropriate council department or outside service provider
