New library and other community spaces a step closer on Aylesbury Estate after contractors appointed

New, high quality community spaces for the Aylesbury Estate are a step closer following the appointment of Vistry Partnerships (formerly Galliford Try Partnerships) as the main contractor for the site.
Work on the £66m project, which will create a brand new public library, health and early years’ facilities plus commercial space as well as more than 120 new homes for rent, is due to start early in 2020.
This new civic square has been designed to serve as a central hub for the neighbourhood, with improved public space and a water feature acting as its centrepiece.
Vistry Partnerships have been appointed by Notting Hill Genesis, who are working in partnership with Southwark Council to regenerate the Aylesbury Estate.
Ken Baikie, interim director of regeneration (Aylesbury Estate) for Notting Hill Genesis, said: “We are pleased to appoint Vistry Partnerships to build the new homes and community facilities on Plot 18, the next phase of the Aylesbury regeneration to be built. Their experience and high standards will help to ensure that this neighbourhood hub will be a real asset for the community.”
Cllr Johnson Situ, Southwark Council’s Cabinet member for Growth, Development and Planning, added: “I am happy to welcome Vistry Partnerships to the Aylesbury project. Plot 18 is the keystone of the wider regeneration of the area as it features community facilities like the new library, early years centre and medical centre and we are excited to be working with Vistry Partnerships to deliver these important new facilities to the local community.”
Ray Toft, managing director for Vistry Partnerships, London, said: “Our business has an excellent track record in delivering mixed-use regeneration schemes, combining the delivery of high quality community facilities, alongside much needed affordable housing throughout London, and we are delighted that Notting Hill Genesis has entrusted us, once again, with delivering this next phase of construction works at their site within the Aylesbury Estate.
“We look forward to working with both Notting Hill Genesis and their partner Southwark Council to support the ongoing regeneration within this area.”
All of the 122 new homes on the square will be available for rent, 23 offering social rents for over-55s, and 99 for private rent through Folio London, Notting Hill Genesis’ market rent brand which offers high quality, fully furnished homes in great locations with no hidden fees or admin charges.
Vistry Partnership’s design team for Plot 18 is led by HTA Design LLP and includes Duggan Morris Architects. Vistry Partnerships is a recent business merger between Galliford Try Partnerships and Bovis Homes.
