Southwark Council unlocks arts and culture

5 March 2018

Southwark Council is inviting residents to access the wealth of arts and culture available across the borough, with the launch of its new Southwark Presents Card. Cllr Johnson Situ, Cabinet Member for Business, Culture and Social Regeneration was joined by comedian Jenny Eclair, to celebrate the release of the new card at Canada Water Library, on 1 March.

Southwark Council has partnered with a wide range of cultural organisations to offer something really special. The Southwark Presents Card gives users access to cultural events, activities, discounts and offers across the borough. It also doubles as a library card, unlocking the council’s twelve libraries and their wealth of benefits.

Southwark is renowned for its vibrant, world-class performing and visual arts, history and heritage; from Shakespeare to youth-led theatre and community cinema to cutting edge contemporary art, Southwark has it all.

Cllr Johnson Situ, said: “I am delighted to be joining Jenny Eclair for the launch of the council’s new Southwark Presents Card. I will be taking advantage of the fabulous cultural events and offers it opens up and would encourage everyone in Southwark to head to their local library, to sign up for their very own access to culture, Southwark Presents Card.”

People who live, work and study in Southwark can secure a Southwark Presents Card from any of the council’s libraries and from the council website. The card, which sports a vibrant new look, will also be issued to replace existing library cards.
