Southwark tenant starts New Year with £1,000 prize draw

One lucky Southwark tenant has won £1,000 after taking part in an annual council housing survey.
Sheila Houry from Dulwich was selected in a prize draw after completing the survey about major works that took place in her block.
Cllr Stephanie Cryan, cabinet member for housing, said: “After each major works project it is important for us to evaluate how the works went, what issues may have arisen and if there are any lessons we can learn from it.
“To do this we ask all residents whose homes have major works carried out to fill out a satisfaction survey and all completed surveys are entered into a prize draw. So not only do responses help us improve our service to residents, they give them an opportunity to win £1,000.”
Ms Houry, who has lived in Southwark for over 60 years, said she had been happy with the way the works were carried out on her home. She added: “I filled out the form because it’s no good just picking it up and putting it in the bin, you need to let people know what you think. But I didn’t expect to win. I don’t know what I’ll do with the money yet, I ‘ve never had money like this before.”
The major works were delivered by Saltash under the partnering contract as part of our “Quality Homes Investment Programme” and completed in August 2016
