Extend your lease
Ways to extend your lease
We offer two routes to extend your lease.
Statutory route
This route requires the leaseholder to serve a notice and there are strict time limits for responses. To start the process, you must serve us a notice in the form stipulated by section 42 of the Leasehold Reform. We have two months to respond. We recommend you seek professional advice when drafting the notice as inaccuracies may result in an invalid notice.
Voluntary scheme
Our voluntary route is more informal with no time limits. You're not required to serve the notice in the form required by the statutory route. However, you must still meet the qualification criteria to extend your lease under this scheme.
