Flood management projects

We are working on projects which will help to manage flood risk within Southwark.

These projects often involve building Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), which are designed to imitate natural drainage processes. This helps to manage rainwater in locations where they are installed, reducing flood risk. They can also involve constructing structures such as embankments, ditches, culverts or flood storage areas to divert or store excess water.

The Greater London Authority (GLA) hosts a map which contains details and locations of SuDS across London

The case studies shared on this page have been led and delivered by the Southwark Flood Risk Management Team. Other schemes in the area may have been completed by other Council teams and non-council groups such as communities, the Environment Agency and Thames Water.

If you are interested in a flood management project for your area, please contact the Flood Risk Management Team at floodriskmanagement@southwark.gov.uk
