Common Purpose grants
There are currently 31 local not for profit organisations being funded up to March 2025.
The funding is for services that support Southwark’s diverse communities to be more resilient, resourceful, happier and healthier. This is in line with the aims of the Common Purpose Common Cause VCS strategy (PDF, 3.2mb), with achievements being reported to the council using selected outcomes from the Common Outcomes Framework (PDF, 776kb).
The overall aims of the Common Purpose programme are to:
- bring Southwark’s diverse communities together
- tackle social exclusion and support communities particularly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic
- promote a greener borough
We provide both 4 year and 2 year grants:
- 4 year strategic partner grants
- for a borough-wide service and/or hub role in their locality
- successful organisations work in partnership with other VCS groups and support small grassroots groups or emerging communities
- some successful groups have an environmental focus
- 2 year community engagement grants
- successful organisations show how they meet the needs of one or more community, and bring different communities together
- support clients to be more confident and independent
- provide advice and information and signpost clients to other services as needed
