Population by age
Southwark has a particularly large proportion of its population aged between 25 and 34. 12.4% of residents are aged between 25 and 29, the single highest five year age band in Southwark.
Across England and Wales, the percentage of the population aged 65 and over was the highest seen in any census at 16.4% (with one in six people aged 65 and over).
In 2011, there were 3.5 million children under five in England and Wales. This is 406,000 more than in 2001.
