Members' code of conduct
The Localism Act 2011 made fundamental changes to the system of regulation of standards of conduct for elected and co-opted councillors. The council adopted a new local code and new arrangements for the monitoring and enforcement of the code on 4 July 2012.
The council has a duty to promote and maintain high standards of conduct.
The council's code of conduct (PDF, 95kb) must, as a whole, be consistent with the following seven Nolan principles:
- Selflessness
- Integrity
- Objectivity
- Accountability
- Openness
- Honesty
- Leadership
Members' code of conduct
