Enhanced Schools Offer

The Family Early Help Service offer is either enhanced if you are maintained school because of DSG contribution or if a school trades. It's our ambition to provide targeted early help to all schools, but this does require additional funding and resources outside of the core funding from the Local Authority for early help. The Team Around The School (TAS) Model is available to all maintained Primary Schools, and trading Primary and Secondary Academy Schools

Team around the School (TAS) - creating a model of collaborative working with schools for the most vulnerable

What is it?

  • it's an opportunity for schools to access coordinated services from different agencies that focuses on families that most need them
  • a service that will help schools to manage their most vulnerable children who are below the statutory threshold
  • a way of helping schools to manage need, risk and resource to produce the best outcomes for children

What will the school receive?

  • termly* Team Around the School (TAS) meetings
  • Family Early Help whole Family Model with up to 10 families per year
  • multi-agency collaboration for the most vulnerable children

Goals

  • to ensure our children are attending and achieving in school
  • to build an evidence base that identifies the cost-benefit for earlier intervention and joint working with schools
  • to reduce the need for statutory intervention by providing help to vulnerable families earlier
  • to create a model of collaborative working with schools for the most vulnerable

The termly SPOC visit can be an incorporated part of the preparation for the Team Around the School (TAS) meeting through the early identification of children and young people in need of some additional support. 

Annual report

In order to evaluate the impact and the progress achieved, there will be an annual review in June of the academic year, which may help contribute to key information/reports for the school’s governing body/board of trustees on their safeguarding and early help work. 

This annual review will aim to capture:

  • all children identified through the SPOC visit where there were concerns about persistent absenteeism, fixed term exclusions, or imminent risk of permanent exclusion; and the outcomes of the required outcomes
  • the impact of the agreed interventions and supports for the children/young people (and their families) presented in the TAS across the academic year
  • evaluate all other FEH and Schools partnership activity including any joint opportunities to attend key meetings or school training forums to share learning around best practice in education, early intervention and safeguarding
  • it will highlight the key strengths and challenges of joint working with the school and families identifying learning opportunities, areas for development and improvement
