Parenting
The Family Early Help Parenting (FEH) Service is developing a parenting strategy with key partners designed to provide a wide range of evidence-based parenting programmes to parents/carers of children and young people aged from 0 to 19.
The Parenting Programme Coordinator and a team of three Parenting Practitioners have undertaken a scoping exercise to understand the strengths and deficits of a wide range of evidence-based programmes from the Early Intervention Foundation and Youth Justice Board website. In addition, FEH has undertaken several consultations with families to establish what parents would find most helpful to support them in Keeping Families Strong.
We’ve also been hearing from our partners about their experiences of delivering different parenting groups in Southwark. Programmes such as Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities (SFSC), the Solihull approach, Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities (EPEC), Incredible Years, About Boys, Triple P Mellow Parenting, to name a few. We'd like to understand and develop the most appropriate and effective parenting offer for the borough which will span the universal parenting offer through to targeted early-help parenting support while also providing parenting interventions for our statutory services.
The FEH Parenting Team has a significant wealth of experience in delivering parenting groups and one-to-one parenting interventions with a focus on the work to enhance parenting skills and build parenting capacity and resilience through promoting confidence to parent their children without feeling blamed or judged.
