Hardship relief
We may reduce business rates where the ratepayer would otherwise sustain hardship, and where it would be in the interests of the community to do so.
In your application, you’ll need to show hardship and the value to the local community of the services you provide.
Applying for relief
We’ll need to see whether business rates are a large part of the running costs of your business. We’ll also need details of the amount and types of debt that you owe.
The balance sheet of your business should show that the relief will make the difference between it continuing or failing.
We can’t grant relief to organisations only on financial grounds - you'll also need to show how your organisation has a direct benefit to the local community.
