Tech reuse scheme
Have an old laptop, smartphone or tablet that’s gathering dust? Donate it at any Southwark library or the Reuse and Recycling Centre. Community TechAid will use it to help those experiencing digital exclusion.
Thanks to Material Focus, we’ve partnered with Veolia and Community TechAid to launch this reuse scheme. It will help us tackle pollution and climate change, and help digitally excluded people in our communities.
Digital exclusion
Digital exclusion is when an individual or community has continuing unequal access and capacity to use digital technologies that are essential to participate in society fully.
In the UK up to 1.7 million households have no mobile or broadband internet at home. 2.4 million people need help completing a basic online task like opening an internet browser.
Accepted Items
You can donate these items at any Southwark library or the Reuse and Recycling Centre:
- laptops
- smartphones
- tablets
- accessories (keyboard, mouse, webcam, etc.)
- headphones
- e-readers (e.g Kindles)
- older phones that aren’t smartphones (these must be unlocked from a network provider)
Please include any charging cables with your donated devices.

Devices that can’t be fixed will be recycled.
