Druid Street

Scheme objectives

We're proposing to make Druid Street part of a cycle route that connects Cycleway 10 on Willow Walk with Cycleway 14 on Tanner Street.

We also want to more clearly allocate space to the different users of the street, with the businesses and loading bays on the southern side and the residential use on the northern side.

As a first step, we want to provide more space on the road for cyclists by installing segregated cycle lanes on Druid Street and closing Gedling Place to motor vehicle traffic.

Once these measures are in place, we will continue to monitor the scheme to see what further improvements can be made.

As part of the experimental traffic order process, within 18 months of the order coming into force, the council must either make the changes permanent, remove them or amend them. Formal objections to the scheme can be logged within the first 6 months.

After the implementation of the scheme and during the trial period, we will carry out a further public consultation to help inform the decision on whether to make the change permanent or amend or remove the scheme.

We will also consult with businesses regarding the loading arrangements in front of the arches.

To inform the design for the rest of the cycle route between Gedling Place and Willow Walk, we will conduct further consultation in 2023 onwards.
