Fredericks Playground
We are transforming Fredericks Playground into an exciting space for local children, young people and families.
Since it closed, we’ve allocated capital funding for new play equipment and landscape improvements at the playground.
The project aims to deliver the following:
- a more welcoming, attractive and accessible playground
- improved visibility and safety
- play equipment that is inclusive for all
- a top-quality playground that meets the needs of local families
Design Consultation Proposal
Consultation on the project took place in 2022 and 2023. The final summary report indicated that these were popular suggestions for the new playground:
- a zip wire
- a trampoline
- basket swings
- climbing frames
- a tube slide
- a teenage activity space
You said, we did
We have used the public feedback from the consultation to create the new playground design. The final design includes all but one of the features listed above. Due to the limited space and proximity to residential properties it has not been possible to include a zip wire. We are also increasing planted areas in the playground. You’ll be pleased to know that this will be an open access playground throughout the day.
