Mint Street Park

About the park

Mint Street Park is located in the space occupied previously by the Evelina Children's Hospital (1869-1976). It became a semi-derelict open space with a reputation for crime and anti-social behaviour. Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST) brought together the local community, with support from Southwark Council and the then ODPM, to address the needs of key user groups. These groups included homeless people, parents and young people, who played a role in improving the space, resulting in the current park.

Mint Street Park is now a local play space and venue for community events. It's the largest green park in Bankside and has a playground for children up to 14 years, a community stage, and a small sports pitch.
