On street permits terms and conditions

By purchasing a parking permit you certify that:

  • the information you have given is correct
  • you are a Southwark resident or operate a business within the London Borough of Southwark
  • your vehicle is taxed and insured at your home address
  • your vehicle is not over 2.286m (7'6") in height
  • you do not live in a car free property where residents are restricted from purchasing a resident parking permit (concessions apply for Blue Badge holders)
  • you will comply with the appropriate Traffic Orders relating to your permit, namely Southwark controlled parking zones

Any parking permit(s) issued to you by the Council in respect of the vehicle indicated by you will be withdrawn by the Council in the event of any of the following:

  • If you are no longer a resident within the zone to which your permit applies
  • If you no longer own the vehicle which you have specified
  • If you live in a car free property where residents are restricted from purchasing a resident parking permit and you are not a Blue Badge holder
  • If your vehicle is over 2.286m (7'6") in height
  • If the specified vehicle is adapted or used so it is no longer a vehicle as specified in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and subsequent Traffic Orders issued by this authority
  • If a payment is not honoured
  • if any information you supply is false.

To verify your residency, Southwark Council use Experian verification.  If the verification check is unsuccessful, officers of Southwark Council may check your council tax records or ask you for information to verify your application.  As a result of the Experian verification, credit reference agencies will place a search footprint on the electronic file of the subject and their personal details may be accessed by third parties for the specific purpose of anti-money laundering, credit assessment, identity verification, debt collection, asset reunification, tracing and fraud prevention.

Southwark Council uses your personal data to send you reminders about changes to your parking permit, including when it is about to run out. The council does not require your permission to do this as it is part of these terms and conditions to allow the council to fulfil our contract on your application for a Resident’s parking permit or Business parking permit. Your personal information will be used by our Parking and Traffic Enforcement team and shared with our parking contractors. Your data will be retained for 2 years after your parking account becomes inactive.

If you are concerned about how the council is using your data, please contact our Data Protection Officer via dpo@southwark.gov.uk or on 020 7525 5000. More information about your rights is available on our website, or via the Information Commissioner (www.ico.org.uk).

By purchasing a parking permit you do so on the understanding that any false statement may render you liable to parking enforcement action and prosecution.
