Report street issues in real time with new council app

22 March 2023

It’s now easier and faster to report all street, estate, road and open space issues to Southwark Council thanks to their new online service and app.

FixMyStreet Pro is an online reporting tool where users flag street issues on a map, making sure the council can address the issues that concern residents directly and keep our streets and estates cleaner, greener and healthier.

You can also attach photos so the report is as accurate as possible.

Transparency is key. Each report stays published on the map so residents can see an archive of what has been repaired and what is still a problem.

Cllr Catherine Rose, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Parks, Streets & Clean Air, said: “Our new online tool is the most direct way to report anything to us that needs fixing, cleaning or clearing on Southwark's estates and streets. In a short few clicks, you can easily alert the council to an issue and receive an update once it's been resolved.

“We chose FixMyStreet Pro because it was the most user friendly street cleaning platform on the market. It takes away the stress of knowing who to contact at the council about issues we know our residents really care about, like fly tipping. We look forward to working with residents through FixMyStreet Pro to keep our streets cleaner, greener and healthier.”

The platform has a strong track record in other boroughs where councils have saved money, improved their response times, and reduced the need for people to contact their call centres. The system can also reroute reports meant for other authorities, like Transport for London.

Visit https://report.southwark.gov.uk/ to report a wide range of problems on the go, such as:

  • graffiti
  • fly tipping
  • littering
  • dog fouling
  • potholes
  • damaged or overgrown trees and shrubs
  • overflowing bins
  • damaged seating and planters
  • broken play equipment
  • e-bikes and e-scooters obstructing pavements

SocietyWorks are the brains behind the platform. They worked with the council to provide a version specifically for Southwark residents.

Angela Dixon, Managing Director at SocietyWorks said: “We are delighted to have yet another London borough benefit from FixMyStreet Pro’s ability to simplify the reporting process and connect councils together for the benefit of citizens. It has been a genuine pleasure to work with the team at Southwark, who have kept their residents’ needs at the front and centre of their rollout of FixMyStreet Pro. We look forward to seeing residents and staff make use of the new system.”
