New council homes have been given the green light on a car park on the Salisbury Estate, near Balfour Road.
The new five-storey block will provide 26 new council homes as part of Southwark Council’s sector-leading programme to build 11,000 new council homes across the borough by 2043.
The flats are a mix of 3-bed, 2-bed and 1-bed, and at least 50 percent will be let to local people, giving tenants on surrounding estates the first chance to move into the new homes.
Cllr Leo Pollak, Cabinet Member for Social Regeneration, Great Estates and New Homes, said: “I'm especially proud of our 26 new council homes on Rodney Road, which underscore our commitment to Southwark council homes standing out for their design quality, as well as our commitment to talented young designers having the chance to shape our council housing designs for coming generations.
