High praise for teaching and leadership at Camelot Primary School following inspection

12 March 2018

When Ofsted visited Peckham’s Camelot Primary School they had high praise for 'inspirational' headteacher James Robinson and rated the school as 'good' in every area of their inspection.

The school has made pupil attainment and progress a top priority and inspectors found that early years and key stage 1 outcomes are continuing to improve and pupils are well prepared for key stage 2. Book work seen by inspectors also demonstrated that Year 6 pupils are making better than expected progress.
The report highlights that “Leaders have created an ethos of high expectations and aspirations that pupils understand and value. They work together very well to ensure that the strong vision they have for the school is translated into effective action in the classroom.”

The broad and balanced curriculum pupils follow was also commended on, with inspectors stating that "It is designed to broaden pupils’ horizons and give them new experiences."

Cllr Victoria Mills, Cabinet Member for Children and Schools, said: “It was a pleasure to read this glowing report that really reflects the heard work that has gone into improving Camelot. The leadership team, teachers and of course, pupils and their parents can be incredibly proud of what they have achieved so far. It is heartening to see that measures implemented by the leadership team are having such positive effects on pupil progress. Very well done to everyone at Camelot.”

James Robinson, headteacher at Camelot Primary School, said: ““Everyone involved in the school over the last eighteen months are thrilled to have received the recognition from Ofsted of the enormous achievements made and the trajectory of improvement at Camelot School. The inspectors’ judgements not only provide the school with the platform for making further improvements but have captured many of the exceptional achievements that we are providing for our children every day.”
