Active Southwark Sport Fund

What is revenue funding

Revenue funding can be used where there is no lasting asset. Revenue funding can be used to put on sporting events and activities, pay for the running costs of an organisation or pay for trips and excursions all these examples must support residents in increasing their physical activity levels.

The types of use for revenue spend could include:

  • staff costs - this includes extra time for instructors/coaches and other support staff who help with the delivery of sport
  • facility/equipment rental - this can include the cost of renting additional space for activity programs, or equipment that would enable increased participation
  • marketing/promotion - this can include the cost of advertising sports programmes to more participants in new ways
  • bursaries /financial assistance for participants - this can help make physical activity programmes more affordable or even free for people who might otherwise struggle to pay for them
  • travel costs - this can help cover the cost of getting to new sports programmes, including innovative ways to support people who need extra help with access.
  • programme development and evaluation - this can include the cost of developing new activity programmes that meet a locally identified need and evaluating the effectiveness of existing programmes to help inform the success of future sessions
  • events - costs towards putting on events, fun days, coaching sessions, fetes, and festivals for the target group and to increase physical activity
