About the data

This dataset shows the locations (polygons) of Southwark Council article 4 regions. An Article 4 direction, which is made by local planning authorities, restricts the scope of permitted development rights either in relation to a particular area or site, or a particular type of development anywhere in the authority’s area.

Southwark Council maintains 10 types of Article 4 direction. The dataset can distinguish between these types:

Class ZA - demolition of commercial, Class MA - Change of use from Class E to residential
Sunray Estate
offices in the Central Activities Zone
public houses
HMO Henshaw Street
demolition of the stables and the forge on Catlin Street
HMO Bywater Place
railway arches
