Family Council
Family Council brings together parents, carers and other family members to give their views on children’s services in Southwark.
What the Family Council does
The Family Council meets monthly to discuss how we can improve the way we work with families in the best interests of children. Topics include:
- how to make sure that families and professionals can work together
- the kinds of support families need and how it can be provided
- how to make services easier for families to access
The Family Council is also asked to give their views on any proposed changes in the way we work, and how this is likely to affect families. We can then take this into consideration when putting in place new policies.
The Family Council meets on the first Tuesday of the month from 5.30pm to 7pm, and meetings are currently held on Zoom.
Who can join the Family Council
Anyone who is a parent, carer or other family member with experience of involvement with children’s services in Southwark can join the Family Council. You could have experience of any of the following; Early Family Help, Youth Offending, Child Protection, Care, Leaving Care, Special Guardianship, Foster Care or All Age Disabilities.
We're looking for members who are able to:
- attend monthly meetings
- share their views and ideas
- work together to develop goals to help promote change
