Making a referral
Self referral
How do I make a self-referral?
We welcome direct referrals from families that are experiencing difficulties and need extra support. To ask for help, simply call the Family Early Help duty manager on 020 7525 1922. The duty practitioner will take some time to make a note of your worries and concerns, what is going well, who is in the family and any professionals or services already offering support. You can also send an email explaining that you would like to self-refer, and we will arrange for a practitioner to call you. Depending on your situation, we may offer to visit you at home to talk about your family’s needs and ensure that the right help is offered.
What type of help can I expect to receive?
Family Early Help offers a number of different types of support depending on a family’s needs. These include parenting programmes with a proven track record, practitioners working intensively alongside the whole family to identify goals and support everyone to reach them, expert advice and guidance with school and education issues, and specialist workers to help with mental and physical health and wellbeing.
What happens next?
Your request for help will be discussed at the weekly Family Early Help allocations meeting. You will be informed of the decision agreed at the meeting, including which services have been allocated to the family. If we're unable to help you with your particular concerns, we'll contact you to explain why and explore other options to ensure that your family gets the help and support it needs.
