New sites for markets spring 2024

Liverpool Grove

A fantastic opportunity for a new market situated on the junction of Walworth Road SE17.

This location is within a well-established retail and shopping area and close to the Elephant and Castle transport hubs.

Southwark is looking for an operator to offer a weekly (or daily) market that will complement the established businesses in the vicinity.

This location can accommodate up to 20 stalls (no electric supply available).  

Consideration will be given to applicants who do not directly compete with East Street Market or nearby local businesses (tier 2 location).

Camberwell Green

Located next to Camberwell Green Park, this a purpose-built hardstanding area for market use.

There is a well-established Saturday Farmers already using this location.

Southwark is offering an opportunity for an operator to use the space from Monday to Friday and/or Sundays.

This location can accommodate up to 28 stalls and benefits from being close to a busy high street and transport locations.

There is a supply for electric and traders can benefit from discounted parking locally (tier 2 location).

Albion Square

Part of a new modern development in Rotherhithe SE16, this site will be completed in late spring 2024. It will offer up to 9 stalls planned within the square next to the development.

Situated near the Finnish and Norwegian churches, this location hosts the bi-annual Scandinavian fairs where thousands of visitors visit the traditional markets.

There is a dedicated electric supply for each pitch. Southwark is looking for an operator that will complement the nearby local businesses (tier 2 location).

Choumert Road

An excellent opportunity to develop a new market site for up to 30 pitches on a historic market location.

Southwark is looking for fresh innovative ideas to revitalise this location. The site is near Peckham Rye Station, the high street shops on Peckham Rye and a short walk from Peckham Levels, Copeland Park and Bussey Building (which host some brilliant and exciting new businesses, bars and restaurants).

There is an electric supply available for use (tier 2 location).

Market operators must provide £10 million in public liability insurance.
